Do you remember the above US Battle Cries?

In this modern day and age it is frightening that Centuries old differences are used as an Excuse for War and Terror Tactics. It is Our opinion that Religion should never be used as a "Call To War." All were formed to bring US together, not tear US apart. We have an escalating Danger from Radicals and Pure Terrorists. We need to come together as a whole to stamp out the threat of Extremism. We will post links to stories and fully welcome your thoughts as well. There is No Racism here. Threats are Threats and Peoples are People. We hope Common Sense and Peace win out. We here, would like Our Troops Home and safe as well.
Please remember, when they are out there, they are protecting and honoring US the Citizens. We must Honor and Protect them as well.

  51. String of bombings rip through Baghdad, killing 49

By Sinan Salaheddin And Lara Jakes, Associated Press Writers – 6 mins ago

BAGHDAD – At least five bombs ripped through apartment buildings across Baghdad Tuesday and another struck a market, killing 49 people and wounding more than 160, authorities said.

Iraqi officials blamed al-Qaida in Iraq insurgents for the violence — the latest sign the country's fragile security is dissolving in the chaos of the unresolved election.

It was the fourth set of attacks with multiple casualties across Iraq in five days, a spate of violence that has claimed more than 100 lives. Attacks have spiked as political leaders scramble to secure enough support to form a government after the March 7 elections failed to produce a clear winner...

Dutch sidestep EU red tape to rescue German ship

By Mike Corder, Associated Press Writer – Tue Apr 6, 8:10 pm ET

THE HAGUE, Netherlands – Gaining fast on the pirates who had seized a German freighter, Dutch naval captain Col. Hans Lodder had no time to waste on bureaucracy.

Sidestepping the command of the European Union's anti-piracy task force, he went instead to his own government for authorization to recapture the ship by force.

Lodder first ascertained that the freighter's crew had locked themselves in a bulletproof room. Then he launched his ship's Lynx helicopter with a team of six special forces marines.

With troops providing cover fire from the helicopter, the marines rappelled onto the ship's deck of the MV Taipan to shoot it out, if need be, with the pirates. But they met no resistance. The 15-man crew was rescued, and 10 Somali pirates were captured...

WEDNESDAY, April 7 (HealthDay News) -- World Trade Center rescue workers showed lingering lung damage more than six years after exposure to the toxic dust cloud on Sept. 11, 2001 -- damage that is likely permanent, researchers say.
Click here to find out more!

Researchers measured the lung function of about 92 percent of the almost 14,000 New York City firefighters and emergency medical services (EMS) workers who responded to Ground Zero in the wake of the terrorist attacks.

In the year after their exposure to such pollutants as burning jet fuel and pulverized building materials, firefighters and EMS workers experienced a steep drop in average lung function. Non-smoking firefighters were especially hard hit, according to the study in the April 8 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine...

  55. Video shows Pakistan Taliban boss alive

By ROBERT H. REID, Associated Press Writer
Mon May 3, 6:11 pm ET

KABUL – The leader of Pakistan's Taliban appeared in a video Monday threatening attacks against the U.S. three months after American and Pakistani officials believed he died in a U.S. missile strike.

Hakimullah Mehsud's emergence occurred as a suicide bomber attacked the gate to a CIA base where seven agency employees were killed last December. The Pakistan Taliban claimed responsibility for that bombing, and Monday's attack could have been aimed at showing that the group was back in business despite months of setbacks from relentless U.S. missile strikes and a Pakistani military offensive.

The Pakistan Taliban have also claimed responsibility for an attempted car bombing last weekend in New York City's Times Square — a claim that New York officials question...

Official: Suspect in custody in NY car bomb attack

By TOM HAYS and COLLEEN LONG, Associated Press Writers – 3 mins ago

NEW YORK – A suspect in last weekend's failed car bomb attack on Times Square was taken into custody late Monday while trying to leave the country, a law enforcement official said.

The suspect, a Pakistani, was identified at midnight Monday at John F. Kennedy International Airport and was stopped, said the official, who spoke to The Associated Press early Tuesday on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the investigation.

The suspect has not been named. He was being held in New York.

Law enforcement officials say the suspect recently returned from a trip to Pakistan and bought the 1993 Nissan Pathfinder used in the failed car bomb three weeks ago and paid cash. The officials spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the case...

  57. Brazen attacks might signal a new Taliban strategy

By ANNE GEARAN, AP National Security Writer – Wed May 19, 9:04 pm ET

WASHINGTON – Brazen Taliban attacks in and around Afghanistan's capital Kabul this week demonstrate the power of the insurgency to strike directly at foreign forces on Afghan soil.

A sobered U.S. military is studying whether these Taliban efforts to reach outside their rural home base are part of a new campaign to target NATO forces, foreign diplomats, contractors and Afghan government officials.

The attacks come as the number of U.S. military deaths approach the 1,000 mark, and at a time when Americans are looking for progress in a long and costly war...

Yemeni cleric advocates killing US civilians

By MAAMOUN YOUSSEF, Associated Press Writer – 16 mins ago

CAIRO – An American-Yemeni cleric whose Internet sermons are believed to have helped inspire attacks on the U.S. has advocated the killing of American civilians in an al-Qaida video released Sunday.

Anwar al-Awlaki has been singled out by U.S. officials as a key terrorist threat and has reportedly been added to the CIA's list of targets for assassination despite his American citizenship. He is of particular concern because he is one of the few English-speaking radical clerics able to explain to young Muslims in America and other Western countries the philosophy of violent jihad.

The U.S.-born al-Awlaki moved to Yemen in 2004 and is in hiding there after being linked to the suspects in the November shooting at an Army base in Fort Hood, Texas, and the December attempt to blow up a U.S. jetliner bound for Detroit...

  60. AP source: US seeks Pakistan crackdown on Taliban

By KIMBERLY DOZIER, Associated Press Writer – Wed May 26, 7:57 pm ET

WASHINGTON – Two top Obama administration officials have told Pakistan that it has only weeks to show real progress in a crackdown against the Pakistani Taliban, a senior U.S. official said Wednesday.

The U.S. has put Pakistan "on a clock" to launch a new intelligence and counterterrorist offensive against the group, which the White House alleges was behind the Times Square bombing attempt, according to the official.

White House national security adviser James Jones and CIA Director Leon Panetta delivered that message to Islamabad last week, said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

As first reported by the Los Angeles Times, the high-ranking U.S. delegation presented the Pakistanis with evidence they believe proves that Pakistani-American Faisal Shahzad was trained and funded by the Tehrik-e-Taliban, or TTP, as the Pakistani Taliban are known. Shahzad is accused of attempting to ignite what turned out to be a poorly constructed car bomb in Times Square...

  61. Remembering Memorial Day
    by Mike Krumboltz

    3 hours ago May 28, 2010

For many, Memorial Day brings to mind images of parades and picnics, of barbecues and baseball games. What's sometimes forgotten are the reasons for the holiday: The sacrifices made by American soldiers in times of conflict.

As the United States' death toll passes 1,000 in Afghanistan, Memorial Day takes on an especially poignant meaning this year. Here's a brief look at how the holiday got its start, and how people are searching for ways to honor the brave men and women who have lost their lives.

    The first holiday
Originally, the holiday was known as "Decoration Day." It was started by a Civil War general named Gen. John Logan, who was the Commander-in-Chief of the Grand Army of the Republic. General Logan sought a way to help the country come back together after the horrors and divide of the Civil War.

The holiday was first observed on May 30, 1868, and Gen. Logan chose that date for two very important reasons: First, the day did not mark the anniversary of a Civil War battle, and second "flowers would likely be in bloom all over the United States." Indeed, many took flowers to Arlington National Cemetery, an activity that still occurs every year.

    More on Gen. John Logan
General John A. Logan has a tremendous legacy that goes well beyond his efforts to honor fallen soldiers. According to a museum dedicated to his memory, Gen. Logan led an inspired life and enjoyed a tremendous career. At different points, he was a United States congressman, a senator, and a candidate for the vice presidency. He and his running mate, James G. Blane, lost their bid, but "Logan’s popularity with veterans contributed to the narrowness of the defeat."

    An official holiday
This may come as a bit of a surprise, but Memorial Day, despite having been around for over 100 years in one form or another, didn't become an official federal holiday until 1971, when Congress passed the National Holiday Act. This created a three-day weekend at the end of May. Prior to this, different states observed the holiday on different days.

    The effect on Web search
Web lookups on "memorial day" and "celebrate memorial day" are both up over 500% during the past seven days. Additionally, queries on "memorial day quotes" and "memorial day history" are soaring, as are searches for "memorial day parades" and "memorial day flowers."

Also worth noting — the "national moment of remembrance." This moment takes place at 3 p.m. local time on Memorial Day and lasts one minute. According to Remember.gov, "the Moment does not replace traditional Memorial Day events; rather it is an act of national unity in which all Americans, alone or with family and friends, honor those who died for our freedom. It will help to reclaim Memorial Day as the sacred and noble holiday it was meant to be. In this shared remembrance, we connect as Americans."
